Remembrances and celebrations on campus have already begun in anticipation of Veterans Day Friday. Saturday marked the City of Auburn’s Veterans Day parade, and eight members of the college’s Veterans Council and their families participated in the annual event. VetCORPS Winter Wear Drive, an effort to accept gifts of cold weather gear to give to veterans, began Tuesday. The drive runs through Thursday, and donations may be dropped off at LC-253.

VetCORPS, Veterans Services and the Veterans Council operate year-round to help veterans achieve their personal and educational goals. Kristina Setchfield, Veteran Resources & Program Manager for VetCORPS, is reaching out to veterans.

Setchfield, who served in the Marines, has worked for the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs for the past two years, coming to Green River in June. One of her goals is to increase community involvement in the college.

In an effort to get the word out about VetCORPS and the services it provides, KGRG created a public service announcement to run during station broadcasts. You can listen to the announcement on Veterans Services website.
