DANCE 101  Introduction to Dance  (3)

Emphasizes basic ballet techniques, and introduces Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Broadway styles. Involves body toning exercises, physical fitness, cardiovascular endurance, and strength, memorization and flexibility. Students learn short dance routines. Focuses on classical styles of dance as well as current social or popular dance trends. Satisfies an activity or a humanities requirement for AA-DTA degree.

DANCE 102  Dance Technique 1  (3)

Emphasizes ballet techniques, and further develops Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, and Broadway styles. Involves body toning exercises, physical fitness, cardiovascular endurance, strength, memorization, choreography techniques and flexibility. Students learn short dance routines and have opportunities to choreograph. Focus on classical styles as well as popular or current social trends in dance. PREREQUISITE: DANCE 101. Satisfies a humanities requirement for AA-DTA degree.

DANCE 103  Dance Technique 2  (3)

Emphasizes ballet technique and development. Further develops the skills and practice of Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, and Broadway. Involves body toning exercises, physical fitness, cardiovascular endurance, strength, choreography, memorization and flexibility. Students learn short dance routines and student lead choreography. PREREQUISITE: DANCE 102; or 2-3 years ballet training and instructor's permission. Satisfies a humanities requirement for AA-dta degree.

DANCE 204  Choreography Workshop  (3)

Students presents rehearsal and performance of dance works in concert. Students practice advanced dance skills and develops choreography for dance pieces. PREREQUISITE: DANCE 101 and 102, or instructor's permission. Satisfies a humanities/fine arts/English requirement for AA degree.
