Gator Softball hosted a double header with the Shoreline Dolphins on Tuesday for their 2015 home opener. The two teams would split the two games with the Gators winning the first game in walk-off fashion, and losing the second game in a slugfest.

Shoreline would score first when they put up two runs in the second inning. In the bottom of the second, Janae Haslett would start things off with a walk, and Cherry Alejo would drive a triple into the gap scoring Haslett. Sam Cox would then come to the plate score Alejo on a fielder's choice tying the game at 2. However, Shoreline would score two in the fourth and one more in the fifth to take the lead 5-2.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Janae Haslett would get things going again with yet another base on balls. Cherry Alejo would get down a sacrifice bunt advancing Haslett to second base, Haslett would score on a Sam Cox single. Sam Cox would then score on an error narrowing the deficit to 5-4.

After giving up a run in the top of the seventh inning, the Gators would need some magic in the bottom of the seventh. The inning would start with Kari Grow reaching on an error and advancing to second on a deep fly ball by Morgan Frost. Grow scored on an RBI single by Shelby Myton making the score 6-5. After stealing second base, Sam Solomon drove a double down the left field line scoring Shelby Myton to tie the game. Janae Haslet who started the previous two rallies, now had the chance to be the hero as she drove a single up the middle to bring in Myton and secure the 7-6 victory for the Gators.

In game two, it was offense, offense, and more offense. The Gators tallied 12 hits and 9 runs but it would still not be enough as Shoreline put up 15 hits and 12 runs. Nine Gators recorded a hit including sophomore Aris Califano who went 2-2 in her first action of 2015.

The Gators season record sits at 2-8 but they are 2-2 in their last four games. They will host Eastern Washington's Club team on Tuesday at 1:00 and 3:00 and then they will take on Clark on Wednesday at 1:00 and 3:00 at Kent Service Parks.
