The value of education in our community, Auburn Globe, March 24, 1965
On Mar. 24 1965, the Auburn Globe published A Report on Our Schools- Auburn Schools. At the time Green River College was still a part of the Auburn School District. The report summarizes the local economic impact of the teachers, staff and faculty living in the area, noting that the total payroll budget of the school district for 477 employees at that time was $3,007,973.69, at a time when no one yet expected the press to round numbers up or down.
In the same edition the quarterly costs of Green River Community College were published. At the time state residence students paying as ''Hourly Students'', or by the credit, were charged a whopping $4.00 per credit hour.
