Lady Gators keep rolling, defeat Tacoma and Grays Harbor
Meet the 2014-15 Green River womens basketball team.
Womens basketball continued its roll, winning against Tacoma and Grays Harbor last week.
The Gators traveled to Tacoma Community College midweek to take on the Titans. Four Gators scored in double digits as they went on to defeat the Titans 71-47. The win improved the Gators record to 5-8 in league and 10-16 overall.
Jessica Norlander continues to play well, as she led the Gators with 15 points and nine rebounds. Nikki Qualls, Gina Mitchell and Jamesa Dubois each scored 14 points. The Gators took advantage of 20 Titan turnovers and scored 23 points off of those turnovers, and they out-rebounded the Titans 43-36.
In the weekend match up, the Gators traveled to Aberdeen, Wash., to take on the Chokers from Grays Harbor College. Qualls added some padding to her 3-point field goal record, as she made five 3-pointers and scored 25 to lead her Gators to an 82-56 victory.
For the second straight game, the Gators had four players in double-digit points as Norlander stayed hot with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Mitchell scored 17, and Jordan Speelmon had 11 points and 9 assists. Dubois pulled down an astounding 14 rebounds as the Gators out-rebounded Grays Harbor 45-36.
The Gators currently sit at 6-8 in league and 11-16 overall and just two games back of fourth place in the western division. They will be faced with a tall order as their remaining two games are against Highline (11-3, 3rd place) and Centralia (12-2, 2nd place).
They will travel to Highline on Wednesday and return home on Saturday for Sophomore Night against Centralia.
