Meet the 2014-15 Women`s Volleyball team.

The Green River Volleyball team opened up the Northwest Athletic Association's Volleyball Championship with a 9 a.m. match against the No. 1 seed from the South Division, Clackamas Community College.

Clackamas was a perfect 10-0 in league play in 2014 and 37-13 overall.

The match was back and forth and very competitive throughout, but Clackamas was too much for the Gators as they defeated them in straight sets. The set scores were 25-16, 25-21, and 25-20. Rochelle Middlebrooks led all Gators with 11 kills, Audra Koke had 21 assists, and Dana Alderson led the defense with 16 digs.

The loss sent the Gators to the loser's bracket and set up a match at 6:30 p.m. against Walla Walla Community College. Walla Walla was the three seed from the East Division but had previously defeated the Gators three times before in 2014, so it was a tall task for the Gators.

The loser's bracket matches were a best-of-three and loser-out scenario. The Gators dropped the first set 25-21, and were unable to rebound in set two, dropping it 25-16. Errors killed the Gators, as they had a team hitting percentage of -.038, making 19 errors on 53 attacks. As a team the Gators only had 9 defensive digs.

The Gators had a tremendous season, improving on their record from 2013 with six more league wins and a trip to the NWAC Volleyball Championships.

They return their two leading attackers next year, Rochelle Middlebrooks and Faith Faamausili, but the absence of sophomores Audra Koke, Maelynn Lautalo, Dana Alderson and Carly Manning will be big shoes to fill.
