The Green River Community Mediation & Peacebuilding Institute is proud to announce that it has trained approximately 30 college and community members in basic mediation skills since it was officially established in September 2013.

In close collaboration with the Dispute Resolution Center of King County, the Institute actively engages with the communities in South King County, and its strategic plan focuses on serving people in these communities by offering professional, low-cost mediation and peacebuilding initiatives that improve relationships and quality of life.

The development committee/advisory board comprises representatives of faculty, students, staff and administrators, and this mediation initiative has the support of the mayors in the college's surrounding communities of Auburn, Kent, Enumclaw, Maple Valley and Covington.

Conflict resolution/peacebuilding experts have spoken at forums on Auburn and Kent campuses, with the topic of Restorative Dialog and Processes being next on this agenda.

We welcome college and community volunteers interested in this work to contact us. If you would like to know more, please go to www.greenriver.edu/mediation.
